The George Meany Center for Labor Studies' Rail Workers Hazardous Materials Training Program recently launched a Web site designed to provide rail workers an online learning resource and increase hazardous-materials awareness, according to Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Accessible at www.hazmatgmc.org, the site includes:
• an online haz-mat awareness training course/refresher for new students or past participants;
• a training schedule for four-day haz-mat courses and online courses, and a registration link;
• a photo gallery enabling students to access and download photos from their class;
• Internet links providing resources for worker health and safety, regulations and industry information, and access to federal agencies;
• a bulletin board enabling training participants to maintain and/or develop relationships with other trainees, peer trainers, instructors and program staff;
• a section displaying industry, regulatory and rail-labor union news;
• a glossary of haz-mat terms and acronyms in English (and soon, in Spanish);
• a biography section including pictures and short bios on peer trainers and instructors: and
• a survey enabling users to critique the Web site.
