Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
MTA Metro-North Railroad recently finished renovating polices offices at its Yonkers, N.Y., station.
During the three-year renovation of the historic station, the agency added closed-circuit security cameras throughout the station building, platforms, plazas and underpass areas. Officers will be based at Yonkers Station 24/7, and canine and emergency service units will be stationed at the facility on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, the MTA Police recently leased a building in Mount Vernon, N.Y., which the agency plans to refurbish and use as a transit police district headquarters. The railroad chose the location because it enables police to more easily serve the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines, Metro-North said.
