The U.S. Department of Homeland Security recently awarded Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) and the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) grants totaling $3.5 million to fund training programs for security officers and staff. MDT will receive $2.6 million and SFRTA, $946,000.
Employees will receive training on security awareness, behavior recognition, immediate emergency response, national incident management and operations control center readiness.
