Michigan short line's MOW workers join BMWED

Huron & Eastern Railway Co. workers recently voted in favor of joining the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED). The employees will be members of the union’s Allied Federation, which represents more than 7,000 BMWED members.
Owned and operated by RailAmerica Inc., the 384-mile Huron & Eastern controls lines in Michigan and interchanges with CN and CSX Transportation.
An International Brotherhood of Teamsters division, BMWED represents about 35,000 rail workers who construct, repair and maintain tracks, bridges, structures and equipment.
