Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) recently named Michael Miller to the newly created position of chief commercial officer. He will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Jack Hellmann.

Miller has more than 15 years of logistics and transportation industry experience, most recently as general manager of Norfolk Southern Corp.’s Modalgistics subsidiary. He previously was vice president of strategic development for Derivion Corp., and held various logistics-related posts at Georgia-Pacific and Roadway Express.

GWI owns and operates 62 regionals and short lines in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.
