advertisement
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta May 30 named Coast Guard Commandant James Loy deputy under secretary for transportation security and chief operating officer of Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
In the newly created position, Loy will report directly to Under Secretary for Transportation Security John Magaw, who heads TSA. He will help the agency (which was established late last year) in its efforts to improve transportation safety.
Loy retired from the Coast Guard after 38 years of commissioned years to take the position.
