Earlier this month, the Minnesota Regional Railroads Association elected Peter Gilbertson president to succeed William Drusch, who serves as chairman and chief executive officer of the Twin Cities & Western and Red River Valley & Western (RRVW) railroads.

Gilbertson is president of Anacostia & Pacific Company Inc., which owns the Chicago SouthShore & South Bend, Louisville & Indiana, New York & Atlantic, Northern Lines and Pacific Harbor Line railroads.

The association also elected Cedar American Holdings Inc. Senior Vice President of Marketing Lynn Anderson to serve as first vice president; Northern Lines Railway President Dan Rickel, second vice president; and RRVW President Andy Thompson, secretary-treasurer. All three will serve two-year terms. John Apitz of law firm Messerli & Kramer P.A. will continue to serve as executive director.

Formed in 1987, the association represents the interests of 10 regionals and short lines operating in Minnesota.

Meanwhile, Anacostia & Pacific Vice President Bruce Lieberman last month won election as Railroads of New York (RONY) president. The organization represents the interests of four Class Is, and 30 regionals and short lines operating in New York state.

RONY members also elected Maurice O’Connell as vice president and Steve Fisk as member-at-large.
