The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is soliciting public comment on the draft 2022 Missouri State Freight and Rail Plan (SFRP) through the end of March.
The document focuses on data to inform decisions for projects regarding economic growth, system maintenance, safety, reliability and other factors, MoDOT officials said in a press release. The plan focuses on freight- and passenger-rail investments.
Missouri’s Rail Plan hasn’t been updated since 2012, while the State Freight Plan was last updated in 2017. The 2022 plan combines both so that state can access more federal funds and be eligible for discretionary grants.
“The pandemic exposed many challenges in the supply chain,” said MoDOT Waterways and Freight Administrator Cheryl Ball. “We were fortunate to have been working on this plan over the past two years so we could incorporate adaptations for the rapidly evolving supply chain into our recommendations for future transportation investments.”
Public comments can be made through March 31. In May, the final plan will be presented to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
