advertisement
The Alabama State Port Authority’s board recently approved a $360 million infrastructure investment program that includes the construction of intermodal rail yards at the Port of Mobile.
The port-wide program also calls for building a new interchange and warehouse, and improving a cargo yard to serve burgeoning steel business and other freight.
The authority, which owns and operates the Mobile port, expects to spend the $360 million in phases during the next five years. The port’s container, general cargo and bulk facilities are served by five Class Is.
