On Nov. 27, Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Corp. (MMA) named Robert Grindrod president and chief executive officer.
Grindrod previously served in various senior car-management positions for Wisconsin Central Ltd., and Canadian National Railway Co. after the Class I purchased WC last year.
A veteran railroader, he started his career with Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, later serving in various operations and marketing positions with Chicago & North Western Transportation Co. before joining WC at its 1987 startup.
Meanwhile, MMA announced plans to close its purchase of Bangor & Aroostook Railroad's system and establish a senior management team by Dec. 31.
"While this process is taking somewhat longer than we had hoped, we want to cover all bases in preparing for MMA's startup, now planned for Jan. 1," said Edward Burkhardt, MMA chairman and president of Rail World Inc., in a prepared statement.
