Motiva Enterprises enhances NS rail capabilities at Georgia ethanol hub

Motiva Enterprises L.L.C. recently expanded its Doraville, Ga., plant to enable Norfolk Southern Railway to move unit trains of fuel-grade ethanol to Motiva’s refined products terminal rail yard, as well as to enhance delivery of ethanol into Atlanta.

Now, an entire 80-car unit train can be off-loaded and returned to an ethanol supplier intact, according to Motiva and NS.

“This is a major step in making the Motiva Doraville terminal the low-cost solution for ethanol distribution in the Atlanta metropolitan area,” said NS Grup Vice President John Kraemer in a prepared statement.

In addition to the Doraville plant, Motiva operates ethanol hub facilities in Sewaren, N.J.; Providence, R.I.; Convent, La.; and Port Everglades, Fla. The company is deciding whether to add rail capabilities at hubs in Port Everglades and Charlotte, N.C.
