NAFTA partners moved $698 billion in goods in 2005, BTS says

In 2005, surface transportation trade between the United States, Canada and Mexico totaled $698 billion — a 10 percent increase compared with 2004, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Total imports and exports moving between NAFTA partners each rose 10 percent to $401 billion and $297 billion, respectively.
Goods moving by rail, truck or pipeline between the United States and Canada totaled $458 billion, up 12 percent compared with $409 billion in 2004, while U.S.-Mexico surface transportation trade rose 7 percent to $240 billion compared with 2004’s total of $225 billion.
