Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Earlier this month, the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) formed a Select Committee on Security (SCS) to develop recommendations on national transportation security programs and initiatives, and expand the NIT League's role in working with and lobbying federal government officials to improve transportation security.
The SCS comprises two members from NITL's executive committee, and each chairman of the rail, highway, air, domestic waterways and ocean transportation, and information technology advancement and hazardous materials committees. Each chair will appoint one member from their respective committee to serve on the SCS.
NITL named UPS Supply Chain Solutions Regional Manager William O'Connor SCS chairman. He previously served IBM Corp. in global logistics and held various positions with several third-party logistics providers. O'Connor also served the U.S. Customs Service (U.S. Bureau of Customs & Border Protection) in various capacities for more than 10 years.
