NITL names Sandberg interim president

The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) recently appointed Annette Sandberg as interim president.

Former administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Sandberg joined the NIT League on Jan. 1. She most recently served as a consultant to the trucking and shipping industries. Sandberg previously was acting administrator of FMCSA and deputy administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Prior to those government posts, she spent 17 years at the Washington State Patrol. In 1995, Sandberg was named chief, becoming the first woman to lead a state police agency.

NITL soon will begin seeking a permanent successor to John Ficker, who resigned as president in November. The organization will advertise the position in the next week or so, says NITL Chairman Curt Warfel.

"We already have a fair number of individuals who have expressed an interest in the position and submitted resumes," he says.

One of the oldest and largest U.S. associations representing freight transportation professionals, NITL is an association of companies involved in the transportation of goods both domestically and internationally.
