NJ Transit hires contractor for Hudson-Bergen line extension

Yesterday, New Jersey Transit’s board awarded a $58.4 million contract to George Harms Construction Inc. to provide final design and construction services for a Hudson-Bergen light-rail extension.

The project calls for expanding the line one mile south from the existing terminus at 22nd Street to 8th Street in Bayonne. Construction is scheduled to start later this year and conclude in 2010.
