Yesterday, New Jersey Transit began testing light-rail vehicles on the Hudson-Bergen extension between the Hoboken and Lincoln Harbor stations. To prepare for the segment’s early September opening, the agency is operating vehicles at regular frequencies — every 15 minutes between 6 a.m. and 1 a.m.

NJ Transit continues to open segments of the line’s 6.1-mile extension between Hoboken Terminal and Tonnelle Avenue. Last November, the agency opened 22nd Street Station in Bayonne, N.J. In summer 2005, officials expect to begin service to Port Imperial in Weehawken, Bergenline Avenue in Union City and Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen.
