NJ Transit to phase-in service for second Hudson-Bergen line segment
advertisement
New Jersey Transit is nearing completion on the second phase of its Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) service. On Saturday, the agency will begin operating weekend service to Port Imperial Station in Weehawken.
Weekend trains will operate every 15 minutes between Port Imperial and Hoboken Terminal, where passengers can connect with other NJ Transit, Port Authority Trans-Hudson and ferry services.
Port Imperial is the first HBLR station to open since last September, when NJ Transit launched service to 2nd and 9th Street stations in Hoboken, and Lincoln Harbor Station in Weekhawken.
Construction on the light-rail system’s $1.2 billion second segment is scheduled to be complete in winter, when NJ Transit begins operating weekday service to Port Imperial Station, and opens stations at Bergenline Avenue in Union City and Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen.
