Toyota Logistics Services recently presented Norfolk Southern
Corp. two awards recognizing the railroad's service in 2002.


For the fifth time since 1996, NS received Toyota's Logistics Excellence Award, which honors transportation companies' efforts to provide damage-free vehicle delivery. Last year, NS posted a defect-free delivery mark of 99.81 percent.


NS also received Toyota's on-time performance award — the second time the Class I has received the honor.


"With the successful implementation of our scheduled operating
plan, Norfolk Southern has been able to improve transit times, on-time
delivery and overall service quality for our customers," said Steve
Tobias, NS vice chairman and chief operating officer, in a prepared statement.
