NS obtains software to provide paper-free service-contract processing

Norfolk Southern Corp. recently purchased service-contract software UpsideContract and UpsideBilling from Upside Software Inc.

The software is designed to reduce contract expenses up to 80 percent by streamlining the contract-management process, such as issuing requests for proposals; creating collaborative contracts; negotiating and awarding contracts; and monitoring and managing risk, performance and compliance, and contract renewals and amendments.

"Upside will enable NS to better manage the change-order process … and speed the processing of contract documents and invoices," said Harry Fridge, NS director of service contracts, in a prepared statement.

NS plans to implement the software on its Web site to replace paper-based service-contract processing.
