Norfolk Southern Railway recently received three awards from Toyota Logistics Services honoring the railroad's performance in 2003.
The automaker presented NS its President's Award for overall rail logistics excellence, and Toyota Logistics Excellence Awards for on-time and quality performance.
The quality award recognizes a carrier that delivers Toyota vehicles to distributors damage-free. Last year, NS' defect-free delivery performance was 99.9 percent.
Since Toyota established the awards in 1996, NS has won the President's Award twice, Logistics Excellence Award for on-time performance, three times, and Logistics Excellence Award for quality performance, six times.
