Norfolk Southern Railway recently reached a 10-year agreement with Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers-represented dispatchers.
In addition to providing general wage increases, the contract enables dispatchers to participate in NS' bonus program — currently offered to management employees and BLE-represented engineers — beginning in 2005.
"Our members are significantly involved in the day-to-day operations of the railroad, [and] with this contract, we recognize a chance to benefit from our daily contribution to the railroad's financial goals," said Alvin Hunnicutt, general chairman in BLE's American Train Dispatchers Department, in NS' monthly newsletter released April 3.
