NS to upgrade crossing in Ohio
advertisement
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) recently adopted an agreement with the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC), Norfolk Southern Railway and village of Lucas to install flashing lights and gates at a grade crossing.
NS must submit site plans and cost estimates for the project to the PUCO by May 3. Funding will be shared by PUCO, ORDC and NS. The Class I will be responsible for completing construction by Feb. 2, 2012.
PUCO is responsible for evaluating Ohio’s public crossings to determine the need for installing active warning devices. Last year, the commission played a role in the installation of lights and gates at 72 crossings statewide.
