NYCT to add express service on Staten Island Railway

MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) soon will expand rush hour express service on the Staten Island Railway (SIR) for passengers who use the 14-mile system to connect with the Staten Island Ferry.
The agency will expand evening service on Nov. 14, adding five express trains and increasing express service hours by one hour, 20 minutes. NYCT will increase morning rush hour express service on Dec. 5, expanding service by 45 minutes and adding three trains.
In 2006, SIR ridership through the St. George Ferry Terminal grew 9 percent to 13,781 weekday passengers. This year, ridership was up another 7.2 percent to 14,287 weekday passengers through September.
