NYCT to inspect, repair platform rubbing boards
advertisement
Yesterday, MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) began conducting platform rubbing board inspections on all its lines.
The wood or fiberglass boards are affixed to platforms at all 468 NYCT stations to prevent subway cars from contacting a platform. The agency created teams comprising system safety, maintenance-of-way engineering and station department employees to perform visual and physical inspections of the boards. The teams will look for loose, damaged or missing pieces of board and hardware.
Workers will make necessary repairs immediately. The information collected during the inspections will be provided to the MTA inspector general.
