Train-whistle supplier Nathan Manufacturing Co. recently acquired Airchime Manufacturing Ltd., a Langley, British Columbia-based firm that supplies whistles for rail, ship and industrial applications. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Established in the late 1800s, Nathan Manufacturing had been the exclusive licensee for manufacturing and sales of Airchime’s Model K railroad whistle in the North American rail market. Nathan’s Micro Precision Group (MPI) now includes Airchime, Micro Precision Inc., Windham Machine and Wentworth Manufacturing L.L.C., which operate in North America, Europe, South America and Australia.

“The locomotive industry has new requirements which must be met within the next five years,” said Nathan Manufacturing President Robert Mongell in a prepared statement. “We have added Airchime to the MPI Group in order to provide the best possible resources to the railway industry in this next level of growth and change.”
