Sidney & Lowe Railroad Inc. (S&L) recently filed a notice of exemption with Surface Transportation Board to acquire 11 track miles from its parent company Progress Rail Services Corp.

The line runs from Huntsman, Neb., where S&L connects with Burlington Northern Santa Fe, to Brownson, Neb., where the short line connects with Union Pacific Railroad.

S&L last month reached an agreement with Progress Rail to acquire and operate the line.
