The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is beginning a $600 million program to enhance security for New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, Staten Island Railway, Penn Station, Grand Central Station, and at a number of bridges and tunnels.
MTA short-listed four teams to provide design, construction and threat analysis services. Later this year, the companies will submit proposals to MTA that identify security enhancements needed during the next five years.
