Last year, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s two airport rail systems set ridership records.
About 4 million people used AirTrain JFK to make connections between John F. Kennedy International Airport’s passenger terminals, and MTA New York City Transit and Long Island Rail Road trains — a 15.4 percent increase compared with 2005 ridership. And nearly 1.6 million passengers rode AirTrain Newark trains between Newark Liberty International Airport and the Northeast Corridor, an 8.5 percent increase compared with 2005 data.
