New York/New Jersey port authority upgrades fare gates

advertisement

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) is a step closer to upgrading Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) fare-collection systems. Last week, the authority finished installing a new turnstile at the Harrison PATH Station, enabling passengers to pay fares using an MTA New York City Transit MetroCard or a PATH QuickCard.

PANYNJ has installed similar equipment at New Jersey’s Exchange Place and Hoboken stations, and at all New York PATH stations. The authority plans to equip remaining stations with new turnstiles by April and convert all PATH stations to accept smart cards by June.
