Blackwell & Northern Railway Co. Inc. (BNRC) recently filed a notice of exemption with Surface Transportation Board to operate a 35-mile, state-owned line between Blackwell and Hun Newell, Okla.

BNRC, a new Class III, would replace 287-mile South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad Inc. as the line's operator pending STB approval.

The line is managed by Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Blackwell Industries Authority.
