Nomad Digital to implement onboard wireless service for U.K.'s Virgin Trains

advertisement

The United Kingdom’s Virgin Trains recently contracted Nomad Digital to provide wireless fidelity (WiFi) Internet services aboard high-speed trains on the West Coast Main Line routes.

To be launched in 2007, the WiFi service will enable passengers to read emails, browse the Web and download digital data.

Nomad’s mobile communication system will link the train to trackside wireless base stations. Radios will be located every few miles along the route to provide a seamless broadband Internet connection.
