Mississippi Tennessee Holdings L.L.C. and Mississippi Tennessee Railroad recently filed a joint notice of exemption with Surface Transportation Board to acquire from Mississippi & Tennessee RailNet Inc. an 87.7-mile line between Houston, Miss., and Middleton, Tenn. The parties had planned to finalize the transaction in late May.

Non-carrier Mississippi Tennessee Holdings plans to form Mississippi Tennessee Railroad to operate the line.

Holding company North American RailNet Inc. owns and operates 87-mile Mississippi & Tennessee RailNet, as well as Alberta RailNet Inc.; Camas Prairie RailNet Inc.; Georgia & Florida RailNet Inc.; Illinois RailNet Inc.; and Nebraska, Kansas & Colorado RailNet Inc.
