Railway Association of North Carolina (RANC) recently named Barbara Holmes Marcum executive director.

She will represent the association at North Carolina Board of Transportation and Rail Advisory Task Force meetings, and be responsible for RANC's 23 North Carolina railroad members, and various associate members (mostly rail-industry vendors and suppliers). Since 1989, Marcum has served as a railroading consultant.

The association also recently elected Robert Menzies president. Currently president of 140-mile Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway Co., Menzies succeeds Lyman Cooper, regional vice president of CSX Corp., who stepped down after serving RANC for 12 years.

The association also elected Scott Saylor, president of North Carolina Railroad Co., vice president; and reelected Ben Zachary, president of 18-mile Alexander Railroad Co., as secretary-treasurer.
