Ocean carrier adds service at Long Beach port

Matson Navigation Co. recently announced plans to expand service between China and the Port of Long Beach, Calif., by adding a second string of vessels.
The new vessels will provide service from the ports of Hong Kong, Shenzen and Shanghai, China to Long Beach, and add an estimated 234,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) to trade volume at Long Beach, port officials said in a prepared statement. The deployed ships will have an average capacity of 3,500 TEUs.
The weekly service is expected to being in mid-August and be fully deployed by early October.
