advertisement
Last week, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission that directs the Youngstown & Austintown Railroad and Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. (W&LE) to upgrade two grade crossings.
Youngstown & Austintown will install mast-mounted flashing lights and cantilevered flashing lights at a crossing in Youngstown; W&LE will install mast-mounted flashing lights and roadway gates at a crossing in Canton.
The railroads must submit site plans and cost estimates for the projects to the PUCO by Oct. 27, and complete the projects by July 29, 2011. Funding will be covered by federal dollars.
