The Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments next month will present the 2007 Ohio Conference on Freight — the state’s first-ever freight conference.

Sponsored by the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, the event will be held Sept. 17-18 at the Park Inn in Toledo, Ohio.

This conference will include presentations on the current challenges and opportunities in the freight and logistics industries, public/private partnerships, freight movement planning, recent freight-handling innovations and security.

Presenters include Norfolk Southern Railway, the Ohio Rail Development Commission, Canada Border Services Agency, Federal Highway Administration, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Ohio Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and University of Toledo Intermodal Transportation Institute.

The event also will feature a keynote address by U.S. Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minn.), chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
