On May 7, OmniTRAX Inc. named Gary Earnshaw president of Great Western Railway of Colorado L.L.C. (GWR).

An executive of the short-line holding company since 1993, Earnshaw most recently served as president of Panhandle Northern Railroad L.L.C. (PNR) and regional vice president of OmniTRAX. He will continue serving as regional VP.

Earnshaw will be responsible for analyzing expansion opportunities for 80-mile GWR; increasing transload business 50 percent and monthly carloads, 10 percent; and overseeing 31-mile PNR and 28-mile Great Western Railway of Iowa L.L.C.

"He is the right person to institute new growth initiatives at GWR," said Janssen Thompson, OmniTRAX executive VP-rail operations, in a prepared statement. "Some of the largest industrial and consumer products-based businesses along the Front Range are either already on the GWR or close to it."

A 28-year rail-industry veteran, Earnshaw previously served Santa Fe
Railroad for 18 years in various management positions before joining OmniTRAX.
