OnTrackAmerica receives $75,000 donation from Rail World's Burkhardt

Earlier this year, Edward Burkhardt donated $75,000 to OnTrackAmerica, a non-profit organization that promotes the development of a comprehensive and sustainable freight transportation plan in North America.
Founder, president and chief executive officer of railway investment, management and consulting firm Rail World Inc., Burkhardt believes OnTrackAmerica can help ensure the viability of future rail transportation across the continent. Groups such as OnTrackAmerica are “vital for advancing the rail industry’s strategic, political and managerial components, and critical to making it competitive in years to come,” said Burkhardt — who founded and led Wisconsin Central Transportation Corp. — in a prepared statement.
Earlier this year, Burkhardt also provided a $4 million endowment to Michigan State University to develop a comprehensive railway management curriculum.
“Rail management, rail labor, working with political leadership and local interests: OnTrackAmerica is trying to bring all these factors together and get them on one page to see what needs to be done,” he said.
