Online shipper/transloader matching service draws interest in first 30 days, BNSF says

During its first month of operation, Burlington Northern Santa Fe's TransBid site posted 25 shipment opportunities and was accessed by 1,300 users. The Web site is designed to match shippers seeking trucking and warehousing services with qualified transloaders.

Shippers log onto the site, www.bnsftransload.com, and fill out a detailed form describing their needs. The system then sends email alerts to qualified transloaders, who can submit job bids online.

"Shippers benefit from a streamlined bid process and ability to base bids on price, service options or any other criteria," said Vann Cunningham, BNSF assistant vice president of economic development, in a prepared statement. "Transloaders benefit from new opportunities in areas they serve, as well as any other areas they specify."
