Yesterday, the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) announced President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Carmichael will retire next spring after the agency appoints his successor.
ONTC’s top executive since 2004, Carmichael joined the commission in 1972 as a summer student. He later served as treasurer, vice president of finance and administration, and VP of rail services.
“Steve has provided a solid vision and selfless dedication to our organization,” said ONTC Chairman Ted Hargreaves in a prepared statement.
ONTC provides freight-rail service on a 700-mile line in northeastern Ontario and northwestern Quebec, and passenger-rail service between Moosonee and Toronto. The commission also provides motor coach and telecommunication services.
