On March 24, Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) unveiled a proposed $331 million fiscal-year 2005 budget — a 4 percent increase compared with FY2004’s $317.9 million budget.
The budget includes funds to purchase 10 MAX light-rail vehicles and security cameras for three stations, begin final design for a 14.7-mile Washington County Commuter Rail Line, and start preliminary engineering and final design for the I-205 MAX project.
TriMet’s Productivity Improvement Process — designed to increase efficiency — has enabled the agency to expand service and amenities, and save $19.5 million in operating and capital costs between FY2000 and FY2005.
The board expects to adopt a budget at its June 23 meeting; the new fiscal year begins July 1.
