POLZUG introduces container-rail service on Black Sea route
advertisement
POLZUG Intermodal Group recently launched container-rail service along the TRACECA route between the Black Sea ports of Poti, Georgia, and Baku, Azerbaijan.
POLZUG's Silk Road Express Georgia L.L.C. handled the first block train on the line. POLZUG — which also owns subsidiaries POLZUG Intermodal GmbH, POLZUG Intermodal and POLSKA Sp. z.o.o. — plans to build container-rail traffic between Poti and Baku.
The route through the Caucasus to Central Asia is an “attractive and competitive alternative to the routes from North Sea ports via Poland/Byelorussia and Ukraine/Russia, as well as from the Baltic seaport via Russia,” POLZUG Intermodal officials said in a prepared statement.
