Patriot Rail takes ownership of Weyerhaeuser's six short lines

Yesterday, Patriot Rail Corp. announced it completed the acquisition of six short lines from Weyerhaeuser Co. The transaction boosted Patriot Rail's short-line holdings to 13.
The acquired short lines include the:
• DeQueen and Eastern Railroad, which operates 50 route miles in southwest Arkansas;
• Texas, Oklahoma & Eastern Railroad, which operates 41 route miles in southeast Oklahoma;
• Columbia & Cowlitz Railway, which operates 14 route miles in southwest Washington;
• Patriot Woods Railroad, which operates 23 route miles in southwest Washington;
• Golden Triangle Railroad, which operates 9.5 route miles in central Mississippi; and
• Mississippi & Skuna Valley Railroad, which operates 22 route miles in Mississippi.
The railroads primarily serve Weyerhaeuser and International Paper mills, plus a number of third-party customers.
As part of the transaction, Patriot Rail also acquired 28 locomotives, more than 300 rail cars, 2,500 leased cars, right-of-way real estate, general office buildings, maintenance-of-way equipment, locomotive and car repair shops, a wheel shop and rail yards.
