Peepas receives IANA honor posthumously
advertisement
At Intermodal Association of North America's (IANA) annual intermodal conference Nov. 19, the late James Peepas was bestowed the annual Silver Kingpin award, which recognizes an individual who's made a career-long contribution to intermodal.
In 1956, Peepas founded Selecto-Flash Inc., which began as a highway safety company, supplying barricades and flashers at construction sites.
Later, a large portion of the company's business focused on screen-printing logos and permanent numbering systems for transportation vehicles, including intermodal trailers, containers and chassis.
Peepas also served as a founding member, and past president and director of IANA, as well as past president of American Traffic Safety Association and member of IANA predecessor organization National Railway Intermodal Association.
Peepas, who died Aug. 4, was chosen to receive the award by the selection committee comprising past Silver Kingpin recipients.
