Pennsylvania's Chocolate Town to build intermodal center

advertisement

Yesterday, Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell presented a $3 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant to the Derry Township Industrial and Commercial Development Authority to help fund an intermodal transportation facility in downtown Hershey.

The $15 million project — which already has received $3.2 million in federal funds — is designed to help revitalize the downtown area and provide transportation options to Harrisburg, Lebanon and Lancaster residents.

The facility will feature bus terminals, a park-and-ride lot, and possible monorail and commuter-rail stops.

Ground already has been broken for the transportation center, which will be located adjacent to Norfolk Southern Railway tracks.
