Philadelphia-area UTU members ratify Amtrak agreement
advertisement
By a more than five-to-one margin, United Transportation Union (UTU) members represented by the General Committee of Adjustment 769 in Philadelphia have ratified an Amtrak agreement.
Retroactive to Jan. 1, 2000, and extending through Dec. 31, 2009, the pact mirrors a settlement Amtrak reached with its other labor unions. The contract includes retroactive pay and additional general wage increases and no work-rule changes, and saves 400 assistant engineer positions that Amtrak had proposed eliminating.
On Saturday, UTU plans to count ballots for Boston’s General Committee of Adjustment 663, which also represents Amtrak workers.
