The Port Authority of Allegheny County recently awarded two contracts to rehabilitate the historic Edgewood Station.

Awarded to U&S Construction, the $420,000 general construction contract includes removing asbestos and lead paint, replacing the station canopy, restoring or replacing windows and doors, restoring the interior finish and decorative railings, and painting the interior and exterior.

Under a $33,000 electrical contract, Sargent Electric Co. will upgrade interior and exterior lighting.

The project has received Federal Transportation Enhancement funds, which were awarded to the authority by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission.
