Poet L.L.C. is about to begin building its 33rd ethanol plant. The company will hold a groundbreaking ceremony May 16 for a $130 million facility in Marion, Ohio.

To be served by CSX Transportation, the plant will use 21 million bushels of corn annually to produce 65 million gallons of ethanol and 178,000 tons of distillers grains.

Meanwhile, Poet recently selected a site near North Manchester for its third ethanol plant in Indiana. To be completed in late 2008 and be served by Norfolk Southern Railway, the $130 million plant also will produce about 65 million gallons of ethanol annually.

Poet currently operates 25 ethanol plants, and is building or developing eight facilities.
