Gross & Janes Co. has appointed Michael Pourney president and chief executive officer.

For the past 10 years, he has served as CEO of several St. Louis-area manufacturing and professional services companies in the St. Louis area. An untreated wood tie supplier, Gross & Janes operates processing facilities in Missouri, Arkansas and Texas.

Pourney will lead the implementation of new growth initiatives that complement the company's base operations, Gross & Janes officials said in a prepared statement. The supplier is researching and developing environmentally safe processes designed to treat railroad ties.

“Mike’s strong combination of financial management and executive leadership skills will help Gross & Janes grow and evolve along with the North American railroad industry we have served for the past 90 years,” said Chairman John Brown.
