Last week, President Bush announced he intends to nominate Mark Rosenker as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Currently the board’s acting chairman, he would serve a two-year term.
Since joining the NTSB 2003, Rosenker has held stints as a member and vice chairman. He previously served as the president’s deputy assistant and director of the White House Military Office. A major general in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, Rosenker has served the U.S. Air Force since 1969.
An independent federal agency, the NTSB investigates railroad, avaiation, highway, marine and pipeline accidents, and issues safety recommendations aimed at preventing transportation accidents.
